Legionella training – is your workforce up to date?

If your business premises has an on-site water source with potential risk of bacterial contamination, you are legally required to comply with ACoP L8 – ‘Legionnaires’ disease: The control of legionella bacteria in water systems.

Training is an essential building block in your water hygiene and Legionella compliance strategy. Your workforce’s Water Hygiene training must be kept up to date, and it’s your legal responsibility to make sure this happens.

When delivered properly, training empowers your staff by giving them everything they need to understand the importance of maintaining water system hygiene. This ensures compliance with regulatory standards and safeguards against risk.

The School of Rock

Any training is only as good as the people delivering it, and we are proud to say that our School of Rock training division has some of the best people in the business, with many years of experience in the Water Hygiene industry.

What’s more, we’re an Approved Highfield Centre for the delivery of our Level 2 and Level 3 Legionella courses. Highfield Qualifications is one of the UK’s most recognised awarding organisations and a global leader in compliance qualifications.

ACoP L8 states that your business must have a ‘Responsible Person’ to carry out risk assessments and create a Water Safety Plan. The Water Safety Plan details the checks and assessments necessary to ensure water safety. These actions are then carried out by designated competent employees – which is where training comes in!

School of Rock courses

The School of Rock offers Legionella training for new learners or more experienced learners who are returning for refresher courses.

With the right training, your employees can undertake their day-to-day on-site water hygiene duties with confidence and skill. It is important to top-up training regularly too.

Regular training and updates are essential, as emphasised in the L8 guidelines, to ensure all personnel are competent in managing Legionella risks. We recommend refreshing this training every two to three years to stay compliant with best practices and regulatory standards.

Our courses run throughout the year – contact us or check the website regularly for details of the latest schedule. You can choose to attend a course held at a nearby venue or talk to us about running bespoke training at your premises. For a really flexible option, we even offer online courses.
