🧒 We know that children need good quality air and water to concentrate properly during lessons and reach their full potential, so it’s vital to make sure schools are able to provide it for them. Avoiding taking time off due to illness is important, too – it’s easy to fall behind and often difficult to catch up again. And of course we all want schools to have the highest standards of fire safety.
🏫 Water and Air Hygiene is vital in any built environment, but students spending long days in school buildings, particularly those who are very young or have additional health concerns, may be particularly vulnerable and susceptible to infection.
🦠 School estates can be difficult to maintain. For example, older school buildings with legacy air ventilation systems may not meet modern air quality expectations. In addition, storing and distributing water across multiple water systems, as often happens in schools, creates opportunities for stagnation, temperature fluctuations, and bacterial growth, especially Legionella.
🧑🏫 It’s the responsibility of the Principal and Estates Team to provide a safe environment for all students, staff and visitors. School – the happiest days of our lives. Let’s keep it that way.
📔 Our education sector specialist Andrew Williams will be on our stand at next month’s The Trust Network National Schools Conference. If you’re attending, head over to learn more about your compliance responsibilities and how we can help you meet them. We’re exhibiting as part of andwis Environmental Services, so our colleagues from Oracle Solutions Asbestos will be there too, to answer all your Asbestos-related questions.
