Birmingham – birthplace of the Balti and home of CHEMUK, the UK’s largest annual B2B trade show dedicated to the chemical, process engineering, and formulated product industries.
CHEMUK, held at the NEC, connects hundreds of exhibitors, industry experts, and thousands of professionals across the entire chemical value chain. This year for the first time ever the Rock Compliance Water Treatment team had a stand at this important event, launching the Rock Compliance and andwis brands firmly into the formulated product manufacturing arena.
Spice up your life!
For each event, we try to build our participation around a theme that links to the local area. This time we went for the curry, synonymous with Birmingham. Marketing material invited guests to “Spice up their day” with a visit to the Rock Compliance stand at location J82. The giveaway bags – which were hugely popular, with many people coming back for seconds – contained gorgeous curry spice sets, packaged in jewel-coloured recycled saris with a family curry recipe attached. These were provided by artisanal Etsy supplier Saskia Snioch – possibly her largest ever order! – so we were able to support a small business too. A new brochure and short but impactful information cards were put in the giveaway bags too.
We also had our ever-popular jelly bean eco-vans, designed to look like Rock Compliance vans and packed full of sweets. We change the registration plate for each event (this one was CHEM); a small detail that stand visitors love and helps us to stay in their minds long after the event has finished.
J82 – the place to be
With a great corner location close to the busy food outlets, J82 was busy from the moment the doors opened on Day 1, as Mark Carr (Head of Sales – Water Treatment), Andrew Edgeley (BDM), Luke Mellor (Account Manager), and Tom Warrender from our supplier Scotmas greeted stand visitors, showing them the wall-mounted water treatment units and demonstrating how they and the rest of the equipment on show operated. They were joined by Andrew Smith (Director of Sales, andwis Environmental), who wanted to investigate the strategic opportunities offered by the event and, of course, check out our competitors!
The next day the team changed, as Luke was replaced by Chris Hall (Account Manager) and Tom by Gemma Hammond, his Scotmas colleague. The fresh new faces inspired a second wave of stand visitors, and by the end of Day 2, there wasn’t a Water Treatment brochure or giveaway bag left to hand out!
Back next year
“Many hours of preparation go into making event like this a success, and I could not have been prouder of the way my team performed at CHEMUK. From the moment the doors opened to the time the final visitor left the hall, they were smiling, professional, and really enthusiastic about sharing their Water Treatment knowledge. We got some excellent leads from the show, and I am absolutely sure that next year it’ll be even better, as people recognise the stand and team and come back to visit us again.”
