Laundry extract cleaning

Keep it clean

It’s very important to have laundry ventilation ductwork cleaned regularly. Laundry, especially bedding and towels, generates a lot of lint, dust and fibres when cleaned and dried in commercial machines. Over time, these impurities can build up and collect in the laundry extract system, making the system slower and less efficient. This material is extremely combustible so it also causes a potential fire hazard.

Rock Compliance is on hand to help. Regular cleaning of the extract ductwork ensures that your laundry system runs more efficiently, saving energy and money. It also reduces the risk of fire and vent blockages.

Is it a legal requirement?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order of 2005 states that all building owners have a responsibility to minimise potential fire risks. Fire safety risk assessments must be carried out and kept up to date. This includes an inspection of ductwork where there is potential for fire risk and subsequent maintenance to ensure the system is safe.

Over and above this, most insurance companies now require proof of dryer duct cleaning, servicing and maintenance. Failure to provide evidence that proper maintenance has been carried out, for example BESA TR 19 reports, could invalidate your claim.

Laundry Extract Cleaning
Leave it to the experts

Team Rock engineers are trained to carry out this specialised cleaning service and ensure compliancy. We start by thoroughly cleaning out the laundry extract system using mechanical brushing, getting rid of all the lint and other material that may have built up in the system. If necessary, we can install access panels.

We also carry out a visual inspection and assess and measure airflow. You will then receive a detailed report with photos and a certificate to show you comply with fire and insurance requirements.

We can offer ongoing support with a preventative maintenance plan, which makes it simple to minimise risk and ensure compliance. And whether you have one site or a hundred sites, Rock Compliance’s national coverage ensures we are at your side, where and when you need us.
